
Aida
Jordão is a
theatre artist specializing in popular theatre, including Augusto Boal's
Theatre of the Oppressed methodology. Aida holds an Acting Diploma from the
Drama Studio, England and an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Cinema Studies
from the University of Toronto. She is currently pursuing a Masters Degree at
the Graduate Centre for the Study of Drama at the University of Toronto As an
actor, director and playwright, Aida has worked with many ground-breaking
theatre companies in Toronto such as Nightwood Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille,
Ground Zero Productions and the Company of Sirens. She has also directed
popular theatre projects with union activists, immigrants and refugees, women's
groups, people with disabilities, youth and sundry progressive communities.
International work includes two years with Teatro O Bando in Portugal, a
project with Teatro Teyocoyani in Nicaragua and continuing collaboration with
Teatro Escambray in Cuba. Aida's most recent project was Yes, I Can! with the
Society of Portuguese People with Disabilities.
